MODEL GOVERNANCE

Methodology

The 0–100 resource values are normalized suitability indices, not direct measurements of atmospheric composition or resource abundance.

Topography

Every globe coordinate is resolved against the official MGS MOLA MEGDR v2.0 topography grid at 16 pixels per degree in the IAU 2000 reference system.

Environmental model

Rust derives a coordinate profile from latitude, MOLA elevation, atmospheric shielding, solar access and resource-envelope transformations. These values are model estimates, not local instrument observations.

Viability calculation

The same versioned weighting is applied to named sites and arbitrary coordinates: life support, water, power, environmental conditions and evidence confidence remain distinct inputs.

Evidence classes

Direct observations, climatological models, MOLA terrain, archive releases and scenario simulations remain separate. The Rust source network records cadence, provenance, response state and the last successful snapshot for every managed channel.

V = 0.25L + 0.30W + 0.25P + 0.15E + 0.05CL life-support · W water · P power · E environment · C evidence confidence

MOLA colors remain a visual elevation legend; numerical elevation is read independently from the signed 16-bit MEGDR grid. Operational status is checked every five minutes, atmospheric observations every fifteen minutes, discovery catalogs every six hours, and archive releases daily. Failed upstream requests never replace the last valid scientific snapshot.
